How do you charge your nimh energy buffer? Is there a special circuit or ic, that you use for solar charge controlling?
I just connect the solar panel directly to the battery. My solar panel is very small (5V 60mA). I run this power setup for almost a year and it is still working. But the batteries are quite hot at the maximum charge voltage.
I think replacing the panel with a lower output voltage like 3-4V, that should fix the battery heat problem.
